Monthly AHEC Scholar Profile - July 2024

Hello! My name is Madelyn Siekmann, but you can call me Maddy. I am a junior biomedical engineering major at the South Dakota Mines in Rapid City SD. Inspired by my father, Brian's, fight and subsequent victory over Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, my future plans include attending medical school and working in Oncology. I originally hail from Chaska MN, and this summer I will be working as a CNA in a local nursing home. At school, I like to keep very busy and involved: I am involved in Choir, Drama Club, professional societies, and Student Association Senate. With what little free time I have, I love watching and analyzing movies and spending time with my family and friends! I am so honored to be selected for this year's cohort of AHEC scholars, and excited to learn all I can!
