Monthly AHEC Scholar Profile - October 2024

Hey! My name is Laeticia Mawawa. I am a third-year student at Black Hills State University. I major in Biology and minor in Physics. I got to hear about the AHEC Scholars program through an advertisement online. I started the training in the summer of 2023. It was one of the best decisions I ever made towards my medical career path because I got to learn how hospitals and clinics serve the residents of South Dakota. I mostly enjoyed trips to various hospitals, clinics, and the Sandford lab. I also love that I got to make new friends at the end of the program. In the near future, I plan to get into medical school and branch into the field of Neurology.
